About Upsilon Tau.

Celebrating 65 Years of Brotherhood, Service, and Impact

In 1961, a visionary group of Omega men planted a lasting legacy in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Chartered on March 19, 1961, at the Catherine Street Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, the Upsilon Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was established under the exalted presence of the fraternity’s 12th Grand Basileus, Brother Julius S. McClain.

As the 34th chapter of the Second District, Upsilon Tau joined a historic district spanning from New York to Maryland and from Long Island to Pennsylvania. The chapter was formed by Omega men from across the United States who chose to put down roots in the Mid-Hudson Valley and unite around a shared purpose: uplifting underserved communities.

Upsilon Tau proudly serves the counties of Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Sullivan, and holds the distinction of being the first Divine Nine Black Greek-Lettered Organization chartered in the Mid-Hudson Valley region. For 65 years, the chapter has remained committed to Omega Psi Phi’s cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, leaving an enduring impact that continues to shape the present and inspire the future.
