Omega Mentoring
Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity. Yet one in three young people will grow up without this critical asset. We are assisting several mentoring programs in the area to ensure they succeed.
Dr. Charles R. Drew Blood Drive
Blood Drive – Every year the Brothers of YT donate not only their sweat but their blood to the New York Blood Center in the Mid-Hudson Valley Region.
Health Initiatives
Prostate Cancer Awareness
Although prostate cancer is common, it is not often discussed. Many men are hesitant about screening for prostate cancer or are unsure of what they need to know related to detecting cancer and talking with their health care team about screening. Similarly, there may be issues related to the treatment of prostate cancer that can be difficult to discuss. For instance, the side effects of prostate cancer treatment may include erectile dysfunction, incontinence and other side effects that affect a man’s identity and self-esteem.
Moreover, one in seven men will become diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes. Prostate health affects all men and their loved ones.
